Amund Thompson
Story Behind the Photo - Robbie Merchant, a co-worker of mine, is a local musician and actor involved in events and theater productions.
He needed new headshots for his acting and professional work and I thought he’d be a good fit for this assignment due to his acting background.
After getting some good headshots, I moved on to the assignment— I talked with him for a few minutes about current highs and lows and the upcoming trip of which his was both excited and fearful of.

Story Behind the Photo - It was a hot summer day here in New Hampshire, so I decided to go check on my father who was working on his bus.
As I arrived, I noticed he was sitting on the stairs of the bus taking a break. His hair was disheveled and he just looked frustrated and exhausted.
So I decided to grab my long lens and try to make a photo before the moment passed and his emotions shifted.

Marvin Miller
Story Behind the Photo - I started just taking random photos around the house, just to stay in practice.
My wife saw me doing this, as I do all the time, so it wasn't a surprise to her.
With that in mind, I sat across from her and started talking about ideas for a out of town trip.
We started joking about previous trips we've taken. I kissed her and told her how much I love her...and bam....the emotion I needed to catch the shot.

It's time to reveal the Best In Show! This is the top winner of this week's photo assignment. Can you guess who took home the honor this time?
Best In Show Goes To…
Stu Bowden, Congratulations!
Story Behind the Photo - In today's episode of Sibling Rivalry, the middle child has an unusually quiet moment while his elder brother is obliterated in a thumb war with their little sister.
Hand-held, dragging the shutter to capture the movement in the moment of the defeat.
The foreground movement contrasts with the stillness of both the old forest, and the central child. Both are unaffected but stand close enough to be drawn into the conflict.
How does it feel to win Best In Show Photo of the Week?
“I'm honestly surprised, I thought Kyle Gagne would've won with that amazing portrait of his dad.
It is stunning! I feel pretty cool about it.
Actually a few minutes later it feels very exciting - I wasn't sure about this shot on a technical level (1/30 of a second, hand-held, are you kidding?), but felt confident in the emotion it preserved.
I'm fairly new to making portraits (within the last two years) and have really started to enjoy the process. This is my second assignment submission, and I learned a lot from the first. I feel grateful to have had the guidance, and I am humbled by this recognition. Thanks Carty & Crew!” - Stu Bowden
